He is the co-founder and present Chairman/CEO of the Raigam group. Dr. Liyanage holds a BSc. degree in Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura. His MBA, specializing in Marketing was obtained from the University of Colombo and later the Lacrosse University (USA) awarded him the PhD in Management. This was followed by numerous other post graduate and professional qualifications such as Diploma in Marketing. Dr. Liyanage is the first Fellow of the Institute of Marketing in Sri Lanka and he holds membership of various professional bodies including Institute of Gemology, Institute of HR Professionals, and Association of Accounting Technicians. Starting his career in the private sector, he changed course in mid career to public sector and changed again to end up creating the well known, truly Sri Lankan FMCG in the land, the Kingdom of Raigam. He was the Platinum award winner of FCCISL Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005 and in the same year won the much coveted CIMA Business Leader of the Year, thus becoming the first ever entrepreneur to win both these awards in the same year.He is also a Faculty Board Member of The University of Sri Jayawardenapura and a Director of State Trading (Wholesale) Corporation Ltd.
